AutoWeed was invited to demonstrate our ATV prototype in an Oats crop at WeedSmart Week in Emerald 2019. The day prior to the demonstration, the AutoWeed prototype was used to collect tens of thousands of images of Milk thistle and unwanted Chickpea in an Oats paddock. These images were labelled and fed into a deep neural network to achieve 98% successful detection of the target weeds.
The detection model was then deployed in the field on the ATV spot spraying prototype with local landholders in attendance. Check out the tweet from WeedSmart below which captures Alex Olsen giving a talk about the AutoWeed system and what sets it apart.
