Soils and Weeds Solutions Field Day at Cooktown

AutoWeed was recently invited to attend a groundbreaking field day at Cooktown QLD held by Cape York NRM focusing on solutions for soils and weeds with around 30 graziers and land managers in attendance. The field day represents a new effort by Cape York NRM to provide extension services to land managers in far North Queensland who have yet to benefit from the many new technologies being offered for improved soil and weed management.

David Hall, an experienced agronomist and soil health expert, worked closely with growers during the field day and subsequent farm visits, to establish soil health baselines for farms in the Cooktown region. David, and Cape York NRM, will continue to work with growers to improve the condition of their soil by providing means for soil tests and expert intervention advice, that was previously unavailable to growers in the region.

AutoWeed was invited by Oliver McConaughey from Cape York NRM to discuss our new innovative weed control technology and how it can benefit pastoral lands with infestations of priority weeds in the region such as gamba grass and rat’s tail grass. Later in 2020, AutoWeed will return to the region to demonstrate their prototype in action on the local grazier’s paddocks.
